hi just wondering what fuel everyone is using and how much it costs in your area?
I've just started to use V-power by Shell (99 RON) and have not really seen a marked improvment from optimax
Price has gone up though:mad:
currently paying £1.04 a litre which is about $1.96 per litre.
About $8 a US gallon!

gas really dosent matter unless your car is more than 10 yrs old

just use the cheapest but if you start seeing a loss in performance get the best again

where do you live by the way??

Over here (Ohio) it pretty much fluxuates from 2.70 to 3.00. USD
BTW your car looks a lot like the new Nissan Versa they have in the states now.

It is best to use the lowest possible octane, without pinging.

Nissan Versa? This thing actually looks somwhat attractive. Not the Versa.

With american cars it doesnt matter, but you should put at least mid-range in foreigns.

That is so not true. Put in whatever it says in your manual. My miata takes 89 octane because it is a 00. The 01's take premium though. So no not all foreign cars take at least mid grade. If you put a higher grade in a car that doesn't need it you can get WORSE gas mileage.

You all keep sayin put in the lowest octane you can... You really should put in what the manufacturer recommends. If you put too low an octane in a car, it will cause "pinging" which is actually premature ignition. The gasoline is combusting before the piston is at top dead center. This is unhealthy for a car, and over time will casue some dammage. Cars with higherperformance engines, have higher comprerssion ratios, which REQUIRE high octane gas. The only sane and safe way to run lower octane in these engines, is to retard ignition timing, which will hurt performance.

With most forced induction cars you have to use premium, if you don't you will get knock or ping which will cause knock retard. A sensor in the engine pulls the timing when this happens and it just kills your power. So it is best to used what is recommended.
