My friend and I are working on his 1991 Mercedes 300E, trying to replace the front rotors (which I think are the original rotors...they're worn down ridiculously low). We got the calipers, etc off, but the rotor itself is still very firmly attached to the hub assembly - does anyone have any idea what is holding it on there? (They don't make a Haynes manual for the car. :()

Probably rust

I don't know the car but I presume the rotors separate from the hub. If their are no screws then rust is the problem. You would need to heat the rotor around the hub area to expand it to loosen it.

ok, I figured it out - there was a hidden hex nut imbedded in the rotor holding it on. (We had to dismantle and repack the bearing assembly to get it apart.)
