Question about a Tranny in a 96 Blazer (4.3 V6, 4WD)

I just bought a 96 Blazer. The guy said something is wrong with the tranny. He said "It goes for awhile, then it quits. Once you let it cool down, it'll go for a little bit again, then quit. Let it cool down again, and it'll go." Any ideas on what could be wrong with the tranny? I've heard it could be the torque converter and NOT the tranny, but what do you guys think? Anyone know these Blazers well?

I would check the fluids, filter, and solenoids.

Maybe check the trans module too?
