Wow..... I'm shaking like crazy.... I don't think I need to race....
After dropping my brother off at work, I decided to go to the outskirts of town and test 0-60 in my Volvo.... It was perfect, nobody there.... I grinned, tightened my seatbelt, gripped the wheel, and Floored it.... Didn't spin out....???? It used to spin EASY, but ever since our volvo guy fixed the cruise control, it seems a little sluggish... I think my dad had him do something... I sped up fast at first Hit 25 in what felt like 2 seconds (I didn't check the stopwatch yet), and it slowed down to what seemed like minutes to reach that 60MPH mark.... I reached it and checked my stopwatch. 9.00 Seconds flat.... Not great by any standards, so it wouldn't bug most car enthusiasts, right? Well, I just started driving this last November, so I'm what you call a typical Dumb:eek::eek::eek:.... I pulled into the first driveway and turned around... It was the only house in sight, with no garage, and one cheap truck sitting outside.... I got away with it... at least I hope so... because if someone pulls my plates... Shudder.... My Dad is the Deputy Cheif at our Police Dept....
I'm 18, I'm shaking, and I feel stupid....
Put that in the past... I love going fast! Hit 100 not too long ago. :D Uphill

lol this is only the begining.... Dont be worried man, youll be ok. Atleast you did it some where "safer" in the middle of no where. That volvo smokes my truck! My little mazda truck will probably take about 20sec just to hit 60.

9 seconds is actually about right on for what you car should do 0-60 in. My friend had a 1977 Nova with a four cylinder in it. It took that car 17 seconds to go 0-60. So heavy with such little power.

What were they thinking when they named it the Nova and tried to sell it in Mexico? No va literally means doesn't go in Spanish.....lol. No wonder the Nova had terrible sales down there.

That and the fact that the late 70's model of the car was a piece of ****. That generation of Nova was one of the worst cars that Chevrolet has ever produced. Slow, unreliable, and not the great on fuel economy.

Meh, it was the first time, I was a bit jumpy... today, I stop at a stop sign, held the brake, floored it, and turned right. I let go of the brake. I spun out like HELL. Smoke FILLED the section of the street I pulled out of. Better yet, I pulled out in front of a school bus! :D Didn't plan on it, but I bet they heard that, the kids giving me the "rock on!" Kids, but it felt good to smoke tyhe street. :D

Nobody was close to me. I had 15 seconds of reaction time before anyone as close enough.

I understand... but that doesnt mean someone/something couldnt just pop out in front of you... You should still do it only when you are alone on the streets, and on a safe street to do it on... Just warnin ya bud...

Nice, I prefer doing it on freeway on ramps though : ) Sometimes you can find one right after a stoplight...so you aren't really breaking the law, just making sure you get up to freeway speed in time : )

Main thing you'd have to worry about is your dad, if he does find out :)

So wait, what are you so shaken up about? Turning in someone's driveway? Accelerating to 60MPH?
KSIMP88
01-27-2007, 04:58 PM
The acceleration was the problem then...
Anywho, I ran it again, lol. I got 8.59s on the stopwatch, but I was late, so it's probably around 8.30s.... No shaking, it was.... relaxing... :wtf:
Must be the nice weaather, plus all my windows rolled down and the sunroof open.

Not bad, I haven't tested my 0-60 time in a while. I might take my car out over spring break and do it. :D

Why would you get in trouble for turning around in a driveway? I live on the end of a dead end street and people turn around all the time in my driveway, I was told there was nothing I can do about it.

Just park your cars at the end of your driveway so they cant use your driveway to turn around in.
