Another Track Day

Going out to No Problem Raceway again today for the road course. It's cold and wet outside, icy really, but the forecast says no rain and sunny skies so hopefully the track will be nice towards the end half of the day.

I will try to get some pics of the gt classes and whatnot for you guys, I know you will enjoy them!

I'm just getting back into AutoX after 30 years and I love it. Track days here get going in spring. Hope to have the truck ready. Got my self a little video camera to mount inside or out for some good video.

I would go to track days, but going with a top heavy, sluggish 2 ton jeep may not be a wise idea.
I'm looking forward to bringing my celica out next summer though, assuming I complete it and it passes the track's inspections.

Just got back guys n gals. Lucky me, I actually met one of the designers of the new Ford GT!!!! I got some pics of his car which is a new model GT painted in throwback GULF colors like the old GT40 was. There were also a couple panoz's and pro mazda's out there as well as some porsche boxters. I will post pics as soon as I can get to the office and grab my laptop to get them off the sd card.

I managed to lose control in turn 3-4 and spun my GT/CS in a full 360 and plowed it into the mud. Luckily no damage, just got a little dirty and had to wait for the crew to come get me unstuck. If any of you guys live in Louisiana and have something they wanna get out on a road course I suggest you look into No Problem Raceway. The road course isn't great but it's better than no road course and they are about to undergo some ambitous remodeling of the entire site with a brand new 2.2 miles road course being first and foremost on the list. It's $125 USD for the open lapping day and $250 if ya wanna enter the race. Not a bad price for a whole day at the track and 4+ 20 minute heats that you get to run in. Don't be shy either, people bring all types of cars out there. One lady had a BMW 1 series she was skirtin around the track and another guy brought his RX-7.

And I wish I could keep up with those miata's... Man those things are wicked around corners when they been built into track cars. They can keep up every bit with the panoz's, pro mazda's, hell I watched one lap the guy in the Ford GT (granted he wasn't pushing it hard at all). The course doesn't have very large straight aways so cars that can corner well usually are faster.

I can't stand the color choices on the GT, but thats one slick ride! I want that motor in my focus, I'd never loose! (I'd never get anywhere though either.) Those are some bald a$$ tires too!

No pics of me in the mud yet, I was in the car and on the far side of the course. The track was still a little wet and I hit a wet spot. No damage to the car, I was about 1 foot off the track but the mud was so thick I got stuck and couldn't get back on course. I did a full 360 through turn 3 and nearly recovered. I would have if I would have had about 3 ft more track. I should've hooked up my dash cam = \. I was too occupied tailing the corvette in from of me. It's funny when you are in a stang that's made for the drag strip and you can keep up with vette's. The track itself is very narrow. It's crazy to see some of these guys going 2 and 3 wide through turn 1 which is where I shot all the video's.

Those are the original GT40 Gulf Racing colors man!. They are a throwback to the original monster that dominated the track in it's day, how can you possibly hate those colors!?! That damn thing sounds SOOOOO mean. It has a deep sound like a harley, even at high rev, but especially at low rev and has an awesome rumble to it.
