This car is so awesome. It is light and fast. It isnt as fast as some super cars. It was designed with one thing in mind. bringing the car and driver and creating one thing. the car becomes a part of you when you drive it. I have not driven one of these but I did drive a 99 elise which is pretty close. If I worked at it I might be able to get my del sol to this cars level of fun and ability. Another thing about it is that the engine is straight out of a toyota celica. so parts and repair should be cheaper and easier than a hand made Lamborghini or Ferrari. It performs almost the same. I think the lotus would come out on top in a course with few straightaways. With a few modifications this car should beat anything with 4 wheels on a race track. This car requires no radio. The only sound you need is about a foot behind you screaming all the way to its 8500rpm readline. most super cars weigh 1000pounds more than this light weight. If you go into a blind corner just lift the throttle and turn because this car can turn faster than you can see . The car is not very practical. its loud and you feel every bump in the road. You can feel a single rain drop if you drive over it. I know I dont have one but I drove its sibling and the car was so fun. T My Del sol is somewhat close, but there is a huge difference between FWD and RWD in cars like this.

+2 for the atom, :)

If you look to actually buy one, there's a "street legal" kit that adds things like a license plate rack, appropriate lights (blinker, brakes, etc) and a windshield for the front. It's like 2 small bubbles to help deflect the air over your head.... kinda like a motorcycle windshield

apavlov13
07-28-2006, 12:32 PM
Is that for the US? I was skeptical if you could even make something street legal out of that. I also didn't know that a honda civic engine can make 300hp. just kidding, don't wanna get in a fight with any honda guys... It is very somilar to the lotus, actually. This is a go-kart, and the lotus is a go-kart with a body. Pretty awesome though, I want one...

I think the Caterham is bigger than this. And it it is front engined. The Ariel Atom is a lot more go-kart-ish.

Alas, it only comes in right-hand drive.

Dex100 mentioned the Bugatti Veyron if thats what youre thinking of.

CyberDruid
08-14-2006, 09:17 PM
The Veyron is also likely to represent the far end of the automotive performance spectrum for some time to come. To create a car much faster will require adding even more weight, and delivering even more power to the wheels. The added weight means diminishing returns in the power-to-weight domain. Additional power means more wheelspin.

Look at a Champ car and consider how radical its appearance is compared to a passenger car. Consider also that a Champ car does not go much faster than the Veyron. The Veyron probably approaches the outer limits of the passenger car envelope, and we are unlikely to see much beyond the Veyron in terms of performance.

This is, in other words, as good as it gets.

How does a 3 second 0- 60 time 1001 horspeower and 1.2 million price tag grab ya?

Dual clutch, computer sequential paddle shifter, AWD, continuously variable cam timing dry sump V-16 and lovely coachwork are some of the features...you can have the pedal flat on the floor and run through the gears without lifting up.

1.3 on the skidpad, widest rear tires ever put on a production car (gotta love that) and a supposed 250mph top speed

Don't know if this is even in production yet.

The mag article I have is an actual roadtest on the salt flats...they got it up to about 180...it was having traction issues---on pavement they compared the G forces to flying a fighter jet.

How about this one guys,
The performance of the Veyron has been surpassed by this new car first seen at the British motor show a couple of weeks ago.
The Barabus TKR uses a mid-mounted 7.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to produce 1,005bhp - that's more than a Bugatti Veyron! The TKR is said to be capable of 0-60mph in "less than two seconds" and have a top speed of 270mph.

apavlov13
08-15-2006, 02:14 PM
And the side looks like a Saleen S7. I think this is too plain looking, and somewhat ugly (in the back). The Bugatti Veyron has 1087 HP, and still, a quad-turbo W16 is a lot cooler than a twin turbo V8. The TKR looks like a really fast race car. The Veyron looks nect-gen and high-tech, which probably is true.

Chipp

That Barabus TKR looks like a Saleen S7 and a Koisenegg (sp?) got together and that's the kid. Too much like everything else, in my opinion. But that's not to say it won't be right quick. :)

The Zonda is an amazing car...it looks like nothing else inside and out...sounds like nothing else...

And goes like nothing else lol

Well ok it's not the fastest there is. But it is, if you ask me, the most unique supercar out there. Where else can you find a gatling gun style exhaust cluster???

I don't like they Veyron much. Ok, it's fast and has some ridiculous never before seen features (LOL 4 turbos) but from the outside...it's kinda bland to me.

That Barabus TKR looks like someone just took the blueprints from the Zonda, the McLaren F1 and the Saleen S7 and played with them a little bit in Auto CAD to try and avoid trademark infringements lol

Not saying it looks bad. It just looks...cliche.

And Druid mentioned the GT40...man that's one Ford I would wholeheartedly drive and not give a ***** for anyone making Ford insults at me. Sounds great...looks great...and you're almost sitting on the asphalt in it lol

Then again I drive a Jaguar...which is basically a ford. And I like it...minus random stupid things breaking.

Unless some other car has that same exhaust, someone drove one of those to school earlier this year (not necessarily that particular model, but a Zonda or some kind). This guy's dad has a huge car collection and drives really nice cars in to school each day. He has 3 Aston Martins, a couple of Bentleys, a Ford GT, and a whole bunch more cars (the guy owns Double Bubble).

Err, sorry to be a automotive nazi....but
It's a turbocharged flat (or Boxer) 6 cylinder.

Essentially it is a V6 with a 180 degree angle between the banks.
A straight six with when all 6 cylinders are in line.

Anyways, My dream?

Jaguar XJ-220
Twin Turbo 3.5L V6
Approximately 550 hp, and 479 ft-lbs of torque
Preferably in a deep blood red, or maroon...

Why? Because, in my eyes: It is one of the most gorgeous cars ever produced.

Also, its biggest claim to fame - offically the fastest car on Top Gear! After the spoiler was added, of course, as a result of it nearly killing the stig.

What do you mean not many? 996 and 997 Porsche Turbos are ALL OVER the place around here. I'd love to have one though (or a 944 Turbo)

Also about the Koenigsegg a lot of people believe Jeremy Clarkson when he claims they added the "Top Gear" wing after the Stig said the car would benefit from a rear wing but it has always been an option since the CCX came out.

I like it even better with the other rims it comes with: http://www.ssip.net/upload/koenigsegg-ccx-side-3_43.jpg

Top Gear found it to be a second slower than a ZR1 corvette, much more boring, yet much easier for the everyman to drive quickly.

Cluff, if your godmother is buying R10's, see if she can throw a Fusion 5-speed your way...what's 25-30K when she's blowing 100+ on cars? :p

Tell her to buy me a ~2009 (slightly used) Chevy Silverado LTZ with a 6.2L and a 3/4 ton payload. Extended cab of course. Tonneau cover is necessary, but not a must.

Heck, about 5g to fix the body and redo the front suspension on the Silverado (very sketchy, ball joints are almost gone) would make me peachy.

I like C12 Zagato.

My favourite is (not original :) ) Aston Martin DB9, but also I would like to have something more effective, maybe something with doors open to up. I love those kind of dors but not like in pyker but like in Mercedes 300 SL (Gullwing).
