Default US Amps/TC Sounds Install :D

Well i had a previous thread with some pics of the Amp install, wasnt very popular. But hey, whatever. This is just showing off what i have recently installed in my car. Those who know me know i dont skimp on the audio stuff...

I recently bought my dream amp. The US AMPS MD3D. Ive wanted this amp for years, and finally have saved up enough to own one. Ive also always wanted to try a TC Sounds sub, again i just saved enough to get one of these too

Im currently living away from home, so i dont have my workshop to build a custom box, nor am i paying a ridiculous price for anyone else to build what almost always seems a mediocre custom box for me. Next time i make it home with my car, a custom box, and possibly a "stealth" install will be in order.

So far im impressed with the capabilities of this sub. Its in a slightly small box. 1.25 cu/ft gross volume, which works out to about 1.16 cu/ft net. A high excursion driver like this really would do better in a 1.4-1.5 net box... But this is what i have for now...

The amp, where do i start? Its a MONSTER! Its really quite over kill for almost any system ill ever use, but i love it. @ 1ohm these amps all test to about 2400-2500 wRMS! and its no joke. I wont be running any where near this, partly because i dont want it that loud, i only have 1 12", and my electrical system couldnt supply that kind of amperage anyways...

Well, heres some pics. I only had my point and shoot so they arent the greatest...

What kind of music are you listening too? I'm curious how well that sub responds.
Time to save up for a bigger alternator and extra battery?

I listen to a mix of rock/metal and some rap. I listen to a lot more rock stuff now than rap, so i chose to put it in a smaller sealed box. The sub is very clean and responsive, and the bottom end extension is just insane. Im very impressed with the sound quality for a sub with such a large voice coil.

So far TC Sounds is living up to the hype!

I may get a bigger alternator, but no need for a battery if i do that.

Do you have a spec sheet for that one specifically? I'm gonna be looking for a new vehicle in a few months and I can no longer own a vehicle with no sound system haha

The sub?

TC Sounds LMS-R 12" DVC Subwoofer

Specifications:

• Power handling: 1,000 watts RMS/4,000 watts peak

• VCdia: 3"

• Le: 4.7 mH

• Impedance: 2 ohms per coil x 2

• RE: 3.96 ohms

• Frequency range: 15 - 150 Hz

• Fs: 28.0 Hz

• SPL: 84.5 dB

• Vas: 1.38 cu. ft.

• Qms: 6.70

• Qes: 0.46

• Qts: 0.43

• Xmax: 29.4

• Dimensions: Overall diameter 12.60", Cutout diameter 11.16", Depth 7.15"

• Weight: 38.2 lbs.

The Sub is very power hungry though. I wouldnt consider it unless you have an honest 750w RMS or more. From what ive been reading 1200-1400wRMS is perfect for daily use, and 2000wRMS is even feasible for the subs.

That's actually much more reasonably priced than I thought it would be.

I need 6 amps like that to power the 6 single voice coil crunch 18"s I have in my Fiesta. On a serious note I would like to here that monster. What kind of supporting speakers are you running to keep up with the bass.

Oh she does, but I'm going to keep the truck for winter driving and some off road fun so my audio equipment will stay in there. I need something more suited for white collar commuting when I graduate in december.
