Question Questions for two Type R 1242D

So right now I have one type r 1242d with a hifonics brutis 1200.1d amp with a 4 gauge kit. I'm about to buy another type r 1242d but since they are 4 ohm dual voice coil I only have two options of setting them up

1: both at 1 ohm (1200rms stable)

2: both at 4 ohm

Is this correct?

Also I was wondering if this is a good dual box for them.

1ohm is going to be the better option. It will draw the max power from that amp.

Dont buy that box. Its tiny and tuned waaaaaay to high. If you want to go ported either build the box your self, or be prepared to dish out over $200 for a well designed and ported box. A sealed box with about 1.2-1.3 cu/ft per chamber would still have a great low extension and be plenty loud with 2 type R's. Im not even sure a proper dual ported box will fit in the trunk of a civic.

I do not have the will power or materials to make my own box. I just bought that one. pretty much the best prebuilt I am going to get.

Ok well you aksed for some advice and answers, i gave them. Dont be let down when you dont get the results from the subs you expect. Its a cheap box, so expect cheap performance. The enclosure is more important than the speakers and amp themselves. But hey, whatever makes you happy.

That box will peak around 50-70hz and have a nearly non existent bottom end extension. Its close to an SPL setup, so musicality will be poor. Boomy, muddy and sloppy over all.

I see. If this box is crap I'm going to consider making my own later on down the road.

No need for that. Just add some steel L-brackets on the outside of the box. And use steel plates and bolts to mount the speakers inside.
