when choosing speakers its important to get the right impedance sometimes the speaker shops will sell you am 8 ohm woofer(s) . I recommend 4 ohm woofers unless you are using multiple woofers such as 4 10 inch woofers in parallel to a 2 channel amp.
If you are using a monoblock amp then the speakers can be wired in parallel to a resistance of 2 ohms( 2 4 ohm speakers in parallel.), without overheting issues. I wouldn't use 1 amp to try to power all your speakers. 1 small amp for your mids and highs and a large amp to power your subs. with a crossover to filter your sound and add clarity or for your own personal sound preferances. What I would probably do is maybe get matching equipment for your system. JBL is a good brand name for the woofers, I have been happy. Speaker enclosures are also important so you need to get the right speakers for the right boxes. Sealed or ported boxes, I would do some research to get the proper box with the right speakers. A lot of MTX boxes are out there and they are built good. Flea market equipment is generally junk and you get what you pay for. So dont shop at the auction is a good rule of thumb.
