Default Girlfriends Mazda tribute 2002 radio problems HELP

Alright so basically i tried to remove my girlfiends stock Mazda tribute stereo. I never got it out I was trying coathangers instaed or din tools. I just couldnt get the clips to lock in correctly so at most i shook it left to right a lil bit then i just gave up . So the next day the girl calls me and says the stereo doens t turn on.

I have no idea why cause all i did was shake it a lil prob no more than it would going over rr tracks or something, So far i checked an interior 5 amp fuse which is good. Im gonna look for more fuses today.

I guess the question i have is what could have possibly happened to the radio. Is there some kind of anti theft feature maybe microswitch if its not seated 100% correct. It sucks idk what could be wrong, The worst part all i really neded to do is plug in a sirius Fm modulator , and im pretty sure i can do it w/o removing the stereo by reaching from the drivers side up. didnt know that till i was already troubleshooting the stereo.

Anyone help is appreciated Thanks

You probably pulled a cord loose and will have to completely remove the radio to check now. If the radio is removed by those little clips, they can be purchased for about 2 bucks and if you have a car audio place locally, they should have a set that you could use for about 1 minute.

If nothing else, just remove the entire dashboard and take it out that way - it's usually not too terribly difficult.

Heh heh, is this a joke? There are some REALLY difficult dashes to work with out there, especially on newer compact cars.

Well, there could have been an anti-theft that engaged, but that usually doesn't kick on unless someone either disconnects the battery or someone tries to hotwire the car, lol.

Normally a car radio will tell you when antitheft is engaged but probably not always
