Well .... yeah your going to need at least a new faceplate to accept an aux input jack. What I would do is call Crutchfield or pioneer directly and ask them if all you need is a new faceplate to accept aux in connections.

You may or may not end up having to replace the whole head unit. Good luck.

It'll be almost as expensive to get a new faceplate...if I were you, I'd just take this as an opportunity to upgrade your entire head unit. (hint: buy the same brand as you have now to avoid having to buy new wiring.)

you will need a new faceplate. Put a different one on yours and you will risk frying the whole unit... Ive done it!

The aux controls are all built into the circuitry anyways, not the face plate. The face plate is nothing but some knobs and a display, nothing more.

If you want to listen to your ipod/mp3 player, there are tons of radios out there with the right inputs for not much over $100

JVC, pioneer, alpine, clarion, and sony all have affordable and reliable units for cheap. Go to your local circuit city or best buy and take a look.

$249 seems a little expensive.

What do you need your head unit for?
If you have no sound system and don't plan on getting one (amp, aftermarket speakers) then you can go with a much cheaper HU.

You can go with a iPod ready cable (bought separately usually) head unit that displays name, artist etc of what you are playing and you have control on the head unit (example = http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...41_p-23218.htm) or a head unit with a aux input (http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...sg_p-23054.htm)

Face plates only gives you a holder for your aux input, its inside the actual head unit that counts.
