tofunater and Sin100 and pbasil and Krunk are the audiophiles from what i've seen. I knew enough to install my Kenwood head unit, and that's about it.

There aren't to many out there, simply because they don't perform anywhere near as well as a small sealed enclosure with a compact sub, like Kicker's Comp VT line or JL's and Pioneers similar compact offerings. These subs can be installed in such small enclosures that you can hide them just about anywhere, and still get excellent bass response.
If your dead set though on free air style, the only dependable one left that I can suggest is this one--> http://www.bizbooz.com/kicker-04ssmb...rs-8-inch.html
Be prepared to heavily insulate your door panels though, or youre gonna have all kinds of annoying resonance issues.

Rep+. i am set on them because i'm extremly limited on space already and the factory set up uses 2 6.5" ones on the rear deck. I want to keep it like factory just louder. I do agree it won't be as well performing but I just need enough bass to back up the music not wake the nieghbors. The ones you suggested look ok but I'm going to try to find something nicer.

Laut, does your GTO have an aftermarket HU in it or is it still the stock Blaupunkt? Been thinking about getting one but the stocker is so big and I don't want a cheesy, cheap, plastic panel that will cover up the hole and hold the unit.

It has the stock one I'm fine with the stock HU Just needs more volume I already adjusted the amp gain and reset the settings which helped alot. If I ever do replace the stock HU I'm going to go with something really nice and large to fill the slot probably a radio with built in Navigation or something.

You don't have any room for any of these?
8" kicker

8" JL

JL 10"

10" RF

Here's another free air design http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136ZR80...CW.html?tp=111

I'm still gonna stick with saying that you would be much better of with this sub --> http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2068C8V...84.html?tp=111
Its a proven performer, and it only requires a .4 cubic foot box. You can make one and fit it anywhere. Thats almost no room whatsoever, and it will be pleasant tight bass, and it won't make your whole rear deck resonate like those free air ones.

Btw, I'm all about sq over db. I just don't think you will get very satisfying results from a free air design.

I could make room but I'm interested in replacements for the factory location I want larger then factory but want the look of factory. Those JL's are awesome they are pricier then I wanted but still that's pretty perfect.
