Default Speaker Opinions

2 of the speakers in my 200 are blown, one other is fuzzy. I'm getting sick of it and I'm a huge music lover, so this upgrade will be worth it for me. I was looking at a set of Pioneer's from Sonic Electronix. My car has 6 3/4 all around but 6 1/2 usually fit 6 3/4 spots and are usually cheaper. Here is a link to the Pioneers:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...TS-G1641R.html

Are these good? I'm not looking for anything spectacular and I'm on a tight budget. Just some good sound and a bit of bass when I need it.

Anything else I need when upgrading the speakers?

Thanks.

If you could afford to go a little bigger on the budget, you will be a lot more pleased with the results from these--> http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...e+P1652-S.html

those speakers should work great with the stock head unit you dont really need anything more than that unless you plan on upgrading your head unit

i think those are over doing it a little i had component speakers in my old neon and besides being a royal PITA to install having to deal with crossovers and mounting the tweeters all they did over the standard speakers was make the highs just a little clearer and that was with a top of the line kenwood excelon head unit i dont even think you would notice them with a stock head unit and it certainly doesnt warrant the high price

1.) I'm pretty sure he's using an aftermarket hu.

2.) SQ is very subjective, some people have very particular, discerning ears, and some don't. I can always hear the difference between a 2/3 way speaker and a component set. Component speakers also tend to last longer because they don't try to press all the necessary hardware into a 10th of the space. A separate crossover will also do its job (to separate highs from lows) much better, and a components system will allow the main speaker to have a much longer cone throw (cleaner bass, and just louder in general). There are more positive aspects to using components sets, but I've gotta run to class now

There is no way I'm spending that much on speakers. I'm not going to have subs, and I won't even have this car anymore in 5 months after I leave for school.

Where are you going to school at? I'd be absolutely miserable at NIU if I didn't have my car.

University of Illinois in Champaign. I'm not even allowed to have the car my first year...

It's obviously different at NIU. DeKalb is in the middle of no where, and the NIU campus is ridiculously scattered.

NIU's bus system works extremely well, I just can't stand to be stuck on campus all the time. I drive to Rockford, Geneva, Chicago, and just around for fun. I'd just feel hobbled without it no matter where I went to school. I have plenty of friends who go to UI C-U who say the exact same thing. Their campus is even harder to get around than NIU's is imo to. What are you goin for?

Gen Ed. Actuarial Science in the future, or maybe engineering.

I'll take the car down the upcoming years. I don't think I should allow myself that much freedom my first year anyway. It'll be good for my grades to force myself to be stuck in the dorm all day.
