Default Do I need a new alternator?

I've recently upgraded from my JBL BP300.1 to ...

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-aEbvmnC...MRP-M1000.html

THIS! It's awesome but my car isn't cooperating with it well. I have done the big 3 to my car and after driving around for a day with this thing, the next time I try to turn my car on it barely starts, delays a bit... chugs then finally kicks in. I leave my stereo off for a while and the issue goes away.

My car obviously can't handle the load, but I can't pinpoint what I should upgrade first. I have a crap tire motomaster 72 (i know i know shh) and my stock (which I believe is a 105A) alternator.

Should I upgrade to a high capacity battery or should I invest in a h/o alternator. (My funds are tight and I can barely afford one or the other right now) so i'm wondering what I should aim for.

Thanks.

Check about having the alt rebuilt for more amperage ARE may be able to do this if you have one locally and it will be cheaper then buying a Ho one.

I couldn't find anything for an '03 cav online so i'm assuming I would have to get one rebuilt anyway. How much would you expect to pay for that?

I can tell you right now, that V-Power amp isn't all THAT power hungry. I'm running the MRP-M650 right now off a 40a alternator . Great amp choice by the way, I hope you didn't pay retail for it though.

You say you've done the Big 3? What size wire did you use? What size is your current battery?

If you used big enough wiring, you could probably easily get away with running a second battery in the trunk. That's a much cheaper alternative, and should function just fine with only 1kw. Look into the Kinetik energy cells. They are great for the money. I'd say look into at LEAST the KHC1400, but you could probably get by with the 800. Keep in mind you can daisy chain them to get more power too, so if the 800 isn't enough, get another.
