Post [FOX] Volvo's new flywheel

http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/...hybrid-system/

well, copy paste doesn't work on my phones Firefox app. I'll add a link later. Volvo has successfully tested and will be mass producing cars with the KERS system

Looks interesting I'm hurting to much to read it fully, but I'll try to circle back around another time.

Very cool, hope people don't mind spending an extra $7500 for the option, if not more.

I'll believe it when I see it... I'm skeptical that this system will make it to a production car without huge compromises.

The efficiency of energy recovery with a KERS system is immense though, and I am a big fan of this tech making headway in automotive applications.

Realistically all automotive tech starts in F1 and trickles down. Usually Mercedes is the ones to invent it though. Good on Volvo.

Right, Volvos don't get in crashes

Normal flywheel doesn't weigh much. KERS flywheel weighs about 50 pounds in an F1 car, so significantly more than that in a production car. It's gonna damage something if it goes wrong.
