Default Mike's Yamaha XS400

1981 Yamaha XS 400. Runs perfect, needs to be prettied up and a few minor things fixed. This will serve as my work log for this new girl!

Lovely motorcycle! I'm doing an engine rebuild of a Honda CB400F from 1977 now, main bearings were almost gone :/

Tinkered and cleaned her up some today, got the chrome shining, no more rust!

Also got the front wheel off, will try and find a tire and get it mounted tomorrow. I expected it to be harder than that to get the wheel off!

Man, seems like everyone on here is getting a bike. This summer we may need to plan the First Annual CF ride haha

And nice bike! Are you wanting to keep the stock look, or go with the cafe racer style I've been seeing so often lately?

Stock for starters. All it needs is lower handlebars to look like a cafe racer though

There's a big difference between the look of a cafe racer, and it being an actual cafe racer :P That 400F of mine is going to end up as a cafe racer, and I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible. Which means taking out the starter engine, for starters (No pun intended). To save weight, and its useless when I have a kickstart anyway hehe.

And Gandalf, that ride would be pretty hard for me, considering I have no license (yet) and I live on the other side of the pond :P
