I'm conflicted about snow tires. Is there really that much improvement over a skinny AT style tire?

snow tires are a softer compound. They're also specifically designed for maximum traction in snow and ice.

A mountain/snowflake rated AT will do well in the snow, but you can't beat winter tires on the ice.

Gorgeous truck btw

Thanks guys. And I guess I'll take a run down to discount tire and see what they can do for me.

In Minnesota I have never fitted snow tires and never needed to. Never found it worth the money, on either the Blazer or the (plow truck) Silverado. Blazer hasn't always had working 4x4 either.

With a posi, it's not all that necessary if you can keep from spinning out, which i presume as someone who is accustomed to RWD, you probably can.

If it were my money, I wouldn't. But that's probably 50% me being a cheap bastard and 50% not needing them.
