Default Speed's little hot rod truck

Well it's a new year and that means a new project.

The truck is a '97 S10 regular cab 2 wheel drive LS model. Sporting the venerable 4.3 engine, 4 speed automatic, factory non-AC, and non-power locks with hand crank windows. It's exactly how I would have ordered the truck, if I had bought new.

The motor purchased for the swap is an aluminum 5.3 removed from a 2004 Buick Rainier CXL.

Stock engine bay - Notice the flat faced heater box and lack of A/C lines.

And the new 5.3 on it's way home

I might just have to take you up on that offer. I'm expecting to pull the 4.3 this weekend so you're welcome to join me if you don't have anything going on.

Good stuff, the ol fabled CFN meetup happening in a small way... SD owes psp some beer i'd say.

Any reason you "would have ordered it" with the 4L60E?

Aye, there will be much beer for everybody.

The nv3500 that the 5mt/v6 models come equipped with is known to be weak, difficult to repair, and there are no practical ways to mount it to the LS engines AFAIK. Now if it was a T56, that's a whole 'nother ball game.
