Considering that it has passed the Quebec safety and is plated and local I would say no lol Not to mention that it is in running condition even at 377,000 km lol

This car used to belong to a member of our car club CVWO, and I saw it at a cruise meet and I fell in love with it

I said to myself once he puts it up for sale I will go and buy it lol

A few months later and viola! In the meantime I was looking at other rabbit's 1981-1984 and I found a few 2-5 hours away from anywhere between $1000-$7000 lol The ones that were cheaper than $5000 all needed to be plated (which means that they need to be appraised and pass the safety).

Getting it appraised costs about $60 and getting it to pass the safety is a gamble but if all is good then it only costs $140.

I see it as a good deal nonetheless.

I have a lot in store for it in terms of projects.

- Engine swap being one of the big ones. I want to put a 2.0L 16v in it.
- Body work (some rust spots).
- New mags (BBS or enlarged steelies).
- Roof Rack.
- New interior, removing the CD deck and bringing everything back to stock.

Man, that's awesome. I love the older Volskawagen's.

We had a 1991 Jetta that had more than 215,000 miles on it before it died.

That price is very reasonable for a rabbit in decent shape (and from the pics it looks awesome). I keep wanting to get a diesel rabbit, just cause i want something slow after have a vrt mk2. I suppose I just can't bring myself to spend money on another car when I could be pouring it into m '86 audi.

Oh, definitely bring this down to waterfest! We old-school guys need to stick together so we can offset all of the mk4's and 5's coming in, but all of the old-school guys are getting fed up and leaving waterfest.

This rabbit sports a 1.7L lol

The max that I have been able to do on the highway was 100 kph and I was reving like a mad man lol

I've always had a thing for the MK1 rabbit's... Not a big fan of MK3 Jetta's however... But yes, we need to stick together

MK5's are definitively on the rise Still pretty to look at but way too expensive for me!

Do you have pictures of your '86?

Little update:

- Installed new tie rods.

Took some pictures of it with my Jetta
