Default 1993 S-10 Build thread "What have I gotten myself into?"

Wassup all,

I was given a 1993 S-10 last month. It's a short bed, single cab. It has a 4.3L V6 with a 700R4 transmission. It has 260K miles but it actually runs great, has a miss but it needs a tune up big time. I think it's actually missing a plug wire as well. This is a project for my girlfriend and I, and until she starts working as well it's going to be a SLOOOOW project.

Pics of the day I got it.

As you can see, it needs some work. The guy that gave it to me, rear ended someone about a rear ago. The Hood is bent, the grill is gone and the bumper is bent. It looks like it a motor mount busted (could still be that way for all I know) and broke the fan shroud. No radio, the interior needs to be cleaned up. The radiator is busted as well, it's been JB Welded, lol.

The rest of the body though, is more or less perfectly straight.

I'll post pics of what little I have actually done to it in a minute.

Good god...that rad is worse than your thread on OCN made it look. It's amazing that you can drive it at all without it boiling in it's own coolant.

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

That rad looks really bad.

If you were closer I'd give you a nice hood for that. I'd even give you a 5.7 TBI engine for it!

Keep us posted on the "slow" progress.

Ah man, don't tell me that! I immediately looked at your location thinking I'd make a road trip in it but Canada is way to far :-/

Ouch, rust everywhere. I can't imagine what your coolant looks like.

I'll gladly take that 5.7 TBI Chevy.

(Seriously, I would.)

I would to.

I'd then throw a 500cfm 4bbl, [email protected] cam in and store it untill I can get a Chevy to put it in

Everything removed. The core support really isn't in that bad of shape. The "DERP" look that Teste keeps talking about is from the headlight adjusters being broke. I'll put it back together with all new stuff and see how it ends up. If it still needs one, I'll get one for it, their about $60.

Pics of said broken headlight adjusters

Removed the battery try to wire brush it and get it cleaned up.

This is how it currently looks.

Just to show how cool my girlfriend is...

She's never touched a vehicle under the hood and she was getting as dirty as me
