It's been a while since my last update on the celica.

Anyways, I gave up on the complicated factory carb and bought a weber 32/36 and the corresponding adapter for a little under $100 on ebay. The new carb is bolted up and the celica starts and runs with no problems, but currently refuses to idle without my help on the accelerator. I'm still tuning the carb, but I may need to purchase larger jets for it anyway.

I also need to adjust the fuel float level and fix a fuel leak on the plugged off return port.

I have templates made and sheet metal ready to be cut and welded in for the floor and the trunk, and after that I either have to get the factory gas tank welded or find a suitable fuel cell online. I am also going with new fuel lines from the tank to the carb because I don't know how well the old ones are holding up.

I am still tracking down my brake fluid leak, but that shouldn't be too hard to fix once I find what is leaking.

I'm glad that the celica is finally getting some work done to it though.

I'll borrow my buddy's camera for some better pics sometime in the next week or so, but for now these will have to do.

The pic of the carb gives you a very small idea of the vacuum nightmare that this car was. Hoses were everywhere, going to random valves and other things. I bet I have about 5lbs worth of things to be removed that were solely for the vacuum system.

Oh, and the car still requires two people to start it.
One to man the fuel pump's temporary power switch under the hood and make sure there are no fires, and one to start it.

At least it still runs that's pretty impressive after it's been sitting that long.

It runs and moves under it's own power, which is even better.

I might even make a video of me driving it around our storage sheds as long as I don't get the police called on me.

Well, I think I have the passenger side E brake somewhat working. I can slow the car down a little, but not much until I get the lines fixed. After that I have all new pads and hardware minus the front rotors ready to be installed.

New rotors will come after I pay off some of this credit card debt incurred from keeping my jeep on the road.
