Price sounds okay for a large SUV like that. Always liked those Jeeps, seemed to go forever.

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

lol you can delete your own posts here. Edit merge them, then delete the superfluous one. Win!

As for upgrades...first thing I'd do is ditch the automatic and put a stick in. The 4.0 is quite moddable, see what summittracing.com has for it.

Merged.

Eh, nobody goes by blue book anymore. My Blazer's blue book is about 4k, but people round here pull $2500 out of them tops.

EDIT: I just found your same truck on CL here for $2800

Sweet, another 4.0 ZJ owner on cf! The jeep looks great. I don't see too many in that color around here.

The first thing you should do is change ALL of the fluids that you can. Both axles, Transfer case, engine oil, transmission fluid, etc, etc. The jeep will run for 300k+ as long as you keep up with the maintenance. I would recommend picking up a haynes manual for this.

Your first mod should be a transmission cooler. Take a look around online to find a good quality brand from summit or jegs. The 42RE is known for needing rebuilds after a certain point, so anything you can do to keep it running longer is definitely a plus.

There are tons of things you can do to your ZJ, and if you have any questions on anything feel free to pm me. I have had my jeep apart more times than I care to admit, so I do know my way around ZJ's pretty well.
