400 was a truck motor at least buy a mild cam, Valve springs, and port the heads. Even a home port job would be good enough proably get a cam and springs for cheap.

it has a brand new stock valve train. im wanting to do a cam. but we'll see

As for your cam, the same Comp 268 that endo bought would do you wonders as well, and with the engine out of a vehicle it won't take long to install it. Couple of hours at the most. Besides it'd be best if you replaced the timing gear anyways, I'm sure it's stretched. How many miles on that 400?

~100k ive also been thinking about getting set of vortec heads. thing is i want a bigger cam. i want some lope... its a track car, its 10's or bust,

this is the cam im thinking about. its not much bigger
