On this motor it does. This is the balance shaft it takes up serious room in the oil pan. While the new oil pump is considerably less you also have to drop the bottom of the pan to clear the pick up which makes even more room. so we have a big mass removed from oil pan and a deeprr sump pan that means more oil to occupy the same space. In reply to (Idunno where you guys are getting that idea) I like to get things from facts or educated guess and don't like being insulted.

This is the balance shaft it stretches 70% of the way across the crank and about 2-3 inches thick all in the oil pan itself

This is the oil pump installed minus balance shaft it's about 4 inches deep but only stretches about a 2 inches in the pan compared to previous 18 inches. That's why a windage tray is now required.

And this is the modification to the pan required for clearance. Can you see where the pan has been cut and rewelded around the bottom.

In the future can you reframe from such general comments I'm sure this explains my previous statement.

In the future, can you refrain from pulling attitude because someone doesn't know something about your particular engine? Just because I don't happen to know the specifics of the balance shaft in your engine doesn't mean you have to take an attitude when explaining it.

Geez.

I spent 21 bucks on 6 quarts Valvoline High-Mileage Full Syn(That's the only synthetic Valvoline my walmart had ) and a Motorcraft FL-1A filter. Not that much.
