Default Call for Nominations - Adding new staff members

Hello everybody,

It seems a glitch in the system has caused any previous staff recommendations to not make it where they were expected to go. We're terribly sorry for the inconvenience, but if you would be so kind as to re-send those to me we can go ahead and get started with the process of bringing on some full-time staff of CarForum's own, rather than having to "borrow" from sister-sites.

So, do you think you've got what it takes to help this community prosper; or do you know of someone who you think does? Please let me know who they are and why you feel that person (yourself included) is a good candidate for the job.

For reference, here is admin's post on what we are looking for in a nominee:
Quote:
Forum Directors are an essential part of the CarForum.net staff. Forum Directors will work with the General Manager and admin to monitor the day to day activities of the site and will have a hand in determining the direction the site will grow in the future.

We are looking for one or two exceptional individuals to supplement the existing staff, and we will add more Forum Directors as the site continues to grow and thrive. Each Forum Director will be responsible for management of one or more areas of the site.

What it takes to be a Forum Director
- Excellent written communication skills
- Great people skills
- A helping demeanor
- A lifelong passion for everything related to cars
- Expertise in a wide variety of areas covered by the individual forums on this site
- Perspective, vision, character
- An active presence on the CarForum.net forum (ideally 5+ days per week)
- Patience and persistence
- A thick skin
- Dedication to the site and the love of cars
- Proactive yet cautious approach

The role of the Forum Director
- To ensure visitors and members have the best experience possible at CarForum.net
- To ensure CarForum.net contains high quality, helpful information
- To uphold the rules/TOS/values of the community
- To stimulate participation and growth
- To be a staple within the community through routine and consistent presence
- To maintain the upkeep and appearance of CarForum.net
- Work with the Geneal Manager and admin on a variety of projects

Pay (or lack thereof)
Officially this is a volunteer (no pay) position. However the new Director will receive:
- A great opportunity to guide elements of a rapidly growing car enthusiast community
- Other small perks over the course of time
We appreciate your continued patience as we work to get CarForum firing on all cylinders again.

Thanks so much as always for being members here.

I'd like to see lautinjr as a moderator, he seems quite responsible and also very auto knowledgeable.

Well send a PM to Chipp and also say a little bit about why you think so. The more detail you can give, the better.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping to shape a forum. So if anyone wants to nominate themselves that is ok too.

I didn't enter my name because I can tell you right now I would ban every single one of these people spamming the forum, no warnings. They read the rules page when they sign up, and I've learned from moderating a number of other forums and chats that zero tolerance is the best policy.

In certain cases it is best to just ban spammers right away.

Now when a new member joins and post a random link to something like perhaps his clan website as he is introducing himself then a simple PM asking him to remove it would be best rather then banning him right away.

Please make sure your PMs are coming to me, Chipp, not to admin.
