New Site Feature: CarForum.net V.I.P. Members - CarForum.net - Car Forums, Automotive News and Community

I would like to introduce a new site feature, namely the new usergroup titled: "V.I.P. Members"

This usergroup was implemented to better recognize the select members that we have here in this small community that have been dedicated and who have given so much of their time/effort in order to help us (giving their advice, fixing our problem(s), etc.).

All of their efforts are usually rewarded with reputation.

What is reputation?

Reputation Overview
–Reputation is a feature within the forum that allows members to acknowledge other members for leaving posts that are beneficial to the forum and it's membership as a whole.

What is Unique Rep?

Unique Rep is the marker that shows how many different people have given you rep. If you wrote 5 great posts and I decided to give you REP+ for each of them your Rep would increase by 5 but your Unique Rep would only increase by 1.

When should Rep be given?

Reputation should be given to members who make posts that are beneficial to the forum and it’s membership. When you give rep, keep in mind that members with a high rep will be perceived as "top members" in the forum. Give rep wisely!

When should it NOT be given?

Reputation SHOULD NOT be given for matters of personal gain. This includes giving rep to friends for any reason, for gmail accounts or anything else that does not benefit the membership as a whole.

Reputation Etiquette
- Do not beg for rep.
- Do not hold grudges with rep. Give rep to ANYONE who posts something that deserves acknowledgement.
- Do not create multiple accounts to give rep to yourself. You will get caught.
- Do not give rep to a post of a member just because you like them. The POST itself should be worthy of the rep.

One year membership on CarForum.net
30 REP

Features that come with being a V.I.P. Member:

Increased PM box size (1,000)
Ability to create your own custom user title.
Your username will now appear in blue
Spam Squad Privelages
Access to the VIP Lounge

Very good. Some incentive for people to stick around! I'm glad you showed up mega, you're turning this place from a spam infested ghost town to a great forum in less time than a blue devil Vette does 0-60

One thing... I see now that a person can get negative reputation with the 'disapprove' block on the REP + box.

Just an FYI, on Ebaumsworld, that is destroying their forums because of retaliatory actions and immature behavior. People give negative rep for no reason, or sometimes nail others for it because they think that person hit them with it, whether they did or not. Also, some of the long time members with really high reputation just destroy new members simply because they disagree with them.

I think it may be a better idea just to have positive REP, but that's just my two cents, what do the rest of you think?

The General Membership should not be giving "Negative" REP for any reason, whatsoever.

Those, who notice that they have received some, I will fix and the member in question will be punished severely. This is no laughing matter. Only the Staff, will hand out "Negative" REP if reputation abuse is in question.
