Unhappy nut in car's engine

I opened the oil fill cap of the engine and noticed that a small piece which probably was the lock was missing. True enough, it was there inside. I took it out with a magnet but the nut was nowhere. I just replaced the nut to the cap and used the car for two days now. Will this harm the engine?

I am not familiar with that engine. If the engine has a timing chain, the nut could fall into the chain and cause the chain to break. If the nut manages to make it into the oil pan, it's not likely to cause damage there.

Have you run the engine?

You could remove the valve cover and fish it out.
