I've been having a few issue's with my home built computer. I built this a few years back actually before I found this board off of Overclock.net where I did alot of researh for the computer build.
System Chip - Q6600 Go chip 2.4G Quad 1000FSB( Ovr clocked but only by 2.41 MB - ASUS P5E3/WIFI-AP LGA 775 INTEL X38 ATX Ram - OCZ PLATINUM 4X1GB DDR3 1333 HD - 2XWD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Raid / 1 160GB Maxtor OS - Vista Ultimate 64-BIT GC - ASUS EAH 3870X2 1G OP - ASUS DRW ATA / Philips SPD2413P(I think th phillips is broke very possible my daughter jammed something into it) PS - Ultra X3 1000kw The problem is it locks up when playing Youtube video's or other similar flash video's. I have updated The Graphics card, flash player, adobe, explorer, and windows. I can't think what else can be the issue. It only happens when multitasking like running a video while surfing the WWW, or while burning a CD or downloading a torrent. Keep in mind I can run 20 Programs at once and not have a issue till a video plays. Noww I'm running dual monitor and it is really acting up with vids now. I would of posted this on Overclock.net but to many people easier to get help here since we mostly came from there. Oh also I have it OC that little bit because It seems to handle it better with just a touch, and I don't remember my profile when I was OCing to 3.6G and haven't tried to figure it out again. At stock clock it freezes almost instantly. I'm suspecting a graphics card problem.

My flash has been a bit goofy for me too. Very laggy when playing youtube videos... Im thinking either its a graphics driver issue or a crappy build from adobe for the latest version of flash. Maybe try going back a generation or 2 on your graphics drivers and see if it helps. Unfortunately you cant really go back to an older version of flash or some sites/videos may not work properly or at all
![]() And wth man, over clock that Q6600 to atleast 3.6! I had mine at 3.8 24/7 stable. Though im not sure how stable the x38 platform is. I loved my DFI x48, it kicked ass and took names! God i miss DFI ![]() :nerd moment:

Have you tried completely uninstalling the drivers and flash? Does this happen in all web browsers?
Are you sure you are using flash, and not DivX?

Flash now has GPU support and since the 3870x2 is pretty much a very old, but unique card I would guess it's not fully supported. Maybe there is a setting to disable GPU acceleration?

it does happen in all browsers or at least the IE and Firefox I use haven't tried it in google chrome. I don't believe I have any Divx codecs on this computer at all, but could be mistaken. adobe has ran alot of updates lately , but I haven't tried uninstalling them. bow do I do that? teach me about GPU i not farmiliar with that. it came with a overclock program of it's own if thats the accelerator. I'm not running it currently. there is a updated driver for the card, but windows says the current driver is better when I try to install it. One thing I fine weird is the hardware seems to recognize the card as 2 seperate devices when I pull it up. I was wondering if maybe it's running 2 drivers for the same card that are conflicting. anytime I disable either one it disablea the card so I figured it's normal.

the 3870x2 is a sandwich card so its a little quirky. As everyone else has been saying, its probably a mix of gfx drivers and recent updates to flash, either updating your gfx drivers or if you have already updated previously, rolling back to an older version may fix the issue.

Tell you what. It's a awesome card really, but it's older. What would be a good reasonably priced replacement that would have no compatibility issues and do everything or more that this card can? My plan was always to have 2 graphics card for gaming and this one probably isn't available anymore anyway. So maybe one updated tech card can do it.

Sounds like the smart move the waiting for a price drop on the 680. Guess I should look into a new chipset and better ram also. Never liked the ram I have anyway and smaller cooler running chips are available cheap anyway. **** never liked the built in wifi, Vista,or fans anyway.regretted not water cooling anyway. **** might be time for a new system damn. Guess I need to start planning.
So new tread cheap Computer build faster then what I have?
