Default Hotdog mufflers

I am actually doing an exhaust for a Honda Valkyrie trike, but my question is very generic.

AFAIK there are 2 types of hotdog mufflers: those with actual angled louvres that can be reversed to alter the sound level and those thgat are simply perforated. Which would be quieter, the louvred set up wiuth the louvres toward the engine, oir simple perforated ones?

I see a erange of these mufflers, but actrual noise data is pretty thin on the ground.

Thanks for any help

Nick
