Default Mitsubishi Lancer cat back exhaust size?

I'm looking to get a new cat back exhaust for better sound and power but don't know what size pipe would be best.

It's a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8l 4 cylinder and the stock pipe is about 40mm.

I wouldn't delude yourself into thinking you'll be getting any appreciable power gains, if any.

I'd look up some videos on youtube to find a setup you like the sound of. I honestly wouldn't touch it.
