Default 1973 Dodge Hard Jerking while hard accelerating

The other day I was driving my truck(W200). It had been awhile since it moved from the garage. It was running fine just the usual noises and such that signal it's normal(ish). I had drove 15miles into town and around a bit. When I got onto the highway on ramp a bmw in front of me "encouraged" me to accelerate hard. Cause why not? As I shifted into 4th gear let the clutch out and was easing my gas up all of a sudden the engine did a massive jerking fit. I believe I was holding the gas steady but can't be sure. It was like I was hitting the gas full on then off but faster then I could hit it. So it felt like full power then no power and so on for maybe 3-5 seconds. I'm worried it might happen again. And I have no idea what it was! It drove fine after that back the 20miles or so to my house. I don't know what's up!

I was looking online for anything on this but nothing seemed to me like it fit the puzzle. I rebuilt a holley 4bbl carb with my dad and popped it on. It was not adjusted using the vacuum method. It runs great for being a worn out 50hp truck! Well at least I think. It ain't great on power. That's why we replaced the old 2bbl carb that would not idle. I've done a decent amount of work to it. Just recently replaced the clutch, fuel filter and pump and fussed with a damn intake for a number of days. But I don't like this jerking because it makes me feel as if it might break down. Now while I can do some work to it, it's not like a roll of duct tape and its brand new skills.

I did drive it yesterday a decent amount maybe 20miles and even accelerated hard but had no problems that I noticed. Aside from usual clutch pedal rattle. If anyone has a idea to stop that I'd like it. It the pedal inside the cab. Not the clutch. But it would appear no one has a rattling pedal. Ask anything needed. I'm willing to look at it. And no, I don't know the carburetor model number right now. I'll get some pictures posted in a bit.

Just realized my post made it sound as if I let the clutch hard and fast. No I did. I let it out nicely matching the engine to my speed. I hit my speed limit of 60, or about 3000rpm.

It could. They are old and sagging a little. The headers on the drivers side do touch the frame. They are some new headers for a dual 2 1/4" exhaust to replace the stock 2 1/4" single. I have not yet had it happen again even after driving it yesterday. But coming back it did almost seem to be wimpy. Almost like it was just starting to vapor lock. It was a slight lack of power but it did not stall or jerk. I wrapped the fuel line in some header wrap to prevent vapor lock. I have not wrapped the headers. I got the wrap for the exhaust. It was melting my auxiliary tank!

I took it to a car show today. Stopped the rattling clutch for now with some chair felt pads. It ran great no issues. I still have no idea what it could have been. If it happens again I'll try to pay attention to what I did. But I guess for now I'm going to give up on it. The only thing I can think is possibly a little bad gas. It did sit for maybe a month in the garage. And with two tanks at 23 and 25 gallons would not surprise me if a little went bad. I have since then shaken the truck to mix it and also stuck in some stabil fuel stuff. Enough to to cover 3/4 tank for both tanks. I'm now down to 1/2 of less in both(I was at 3/4 in both tanks at time of fuel stabil). I blame fuel emconomy and bad fuel cap. Mine just lets it pour out in corners.

Well if anyone has anything further then speak up but now I'll just leave it. It's running fine so I don't want to mess with it but will if it increases my confidence of not breaking down.

And also I wish I put it on the dyno. It has so little power anymore. I almost stalled it trying to "hard" launch from a light. It's not fast.
