Default whats the best way to buy a car

I am looking into purchasing a car through an online car website where dealers can bid and give you offers on the car you want, i think this is a way better way to buy cars since i don't like going to dealerships, but just wondering if it really works..has anyone ever done anything like this????

Bidding and giving offers may be nice to find a cheaper price for a given car, but there's just no substitute for going down there and driving it. Dealer G may be knocking six grand off the price because they just want to move it, or they may be offering such a steep discount because the engine's five miles from turning into confetti.

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

I worked at a car auction this summer. It was dealer exclusive so the cars sold for cheap.

But let me tell you one thing, most of the cars go to an auction because there is something wrong with them and they can't sell.

I would often times drive a car that had no reverse, would die constantly and have many things simply not working.

The dealers would often ask how the car drives and whether its good, after I drove it for maybe 20 feet lol.

Of course you will have repossessed cars which tend to be good and taken care of. But those tend to be rare.

My advice would be to go on Craigslist and finds a car you want on there. A car that you can testdrive yourself and thoroughly check it out.

Heck, have a mechanic check the car before you buy.

Car auctions? I wouldn't go near them unless I was well informed on the type of car. Such as a CVPI, Cherokee, or older brick Volvo
2001 Tahoe LT Autoride
w/ third seat +25hp
K&N air filter +50hp
Custom Radio +15hp

Soon to buy:
Exhaust +50hp
Lowering kit (2") +30hp
