Default Are broken leaf springs dangerous?

Hey guys. I took the 'ole K10 out wheeling pretty hard, and I busted one leaf in my drivers side pack (the middle one), and I broke the top one on my passengers side.

Are they dangerous like that? Whats the worse that could happen? I'm hoping to at least make it through winter before I start fixing this heap up.

Yes its dangerous could cause axle movement whuch can result in drive line damage a much more expensive repair.

Yeah I'd replace them soon man. If you have blocks and shackles, I'd honestly suggest removing them and getting a real lift kit. Blocks are very hard on leafs. Don't understand why people get them.

One broken leaf won't hurt anything, but if you broke one leaf the others aren't gonna be far behind. Keep stressing them and soon you'll break even more, until the spring collapses and lets the axle go places it shouldn't. Or even fall off entirely.

Stay on the paved path, be gentle with it, don't load it up real heavy, and they should hold. Keep an eye on them anyways, and replace them as soon as finances allow, or if a second leaf lets go, whichever comes first. I wouldn't say it's an absolute emergency but it's also not something I'd roll around on too long.

That's how I interpreted it, lautin. It won't even handle that odd, aside from being a bit softer. I doubt the axle's gonna fall out from under it as long as he stays on pavement and takes it easy over things like potholes and train tracks.

It still handles like it always had lol. It's riding on the bumpstops though, so it rides a little stiffer now

I'm going to sell a few things around here and get those springs ASAP. And I'll get new u bolts too, because I'm sure these old ones probably won't have much life left in them.
