Default How to lock car?

Hi,
i have a Hyundai Elantra 2006,
and i want to "lock it" so my kid wont use it.

i mean,
how can i prevent him from starting the car, even if he has the key?

You could install an immobilizer, or if you think he will give up easy you could remove a relay for the engine. Under the hood should be a fuse/relay box. Find a relay for the fuel pump or injection and pull it out. Inconvenient, yes, but then the immobilizer is expensive. If you did go with an immobilizer it may also get you a discount on your insurance.

Besides hiding the key, I have no idea for a cheap way to do that. You might be able to get an alarm immobilizer system but who knows how expensive that would be.

Spike strip hidden behind the tires, I doubt he'll try taking it again without asking

Not the most cost effective though

Discipline him. If you have to resort to this to keep your kid from driving your car, the problem lies with the parent.

OR, keep it classy and take his license away, I mean, if he's that rebellious that he'll take the car without permission, then discipline must be had.
