Default what to do

ok so few months back I picked up a 2001 Honda CRV with 84,000 Miles on it. I never intended on keeping it tho. The guy wanted 5,000 but I got him down to 4000. Really good deal since these things blue book around 7k. It is a 5 Speed manual with the little 2.0 Liter motor. Brand new tires with less than 5,000 miles on them according to receipt he gave me.

The first thing I did was get the timing belt and water pump replaced since the guy never got it done. ~300

Fast forward to 5 months later. I put about 10,000 miles on it. Great running vehicle however I was never really planning on keeping it. I want another truck. I am never giving up my GMC, but I need a winter vehicle. This little guy does great in the snow.

Now the exhaust falls off and the catalytic converter is rotten, I told the mechanic to just piece it together best he can since Im used to cutting the cats off, but he said it would be best to leave a cat on to avoid issues. He said whole new exhaust system is like 400 w/cat and I really dont want to stick that much into it, if i dont wanna keep it lol

I dont mind the SUV at all, Its fun to drive, i just want something a little more "manly" lol
I was thinking Chevy colorado, haven't really heard anything bad besides the engines needed to be rebuilt in the earlier models.

Would you keep it or sell? I could probably make some money off of it, but a part of me is saying keep it since its only a winter driver.

Considering the current cost of gas I would keep it, but that's just my opinion. If you want to make some cash then sell it if you want a V8 truck.

You got it for a steal, and $400 for the exhaust, including the cat is a steal!

Either keeping it or selling it, a new exhaust is a good selling point.

We had a '98 and it was horribly unreliable. Exact same as yours, except red.

Needed a new engine way too early, was costing us a ton to keep it running. Got the Grand Prix and never looked back. That Honda can rot in a scrap yard.

I wouldn't keep it, but that's based on my experience with them. Also, about as comfortable as falling down a flight of stairs.

Im gonna agree it is not very comfortable, it needs armwrests, but i aint paying 200 so my passenger can be comfortable.
The only bad thing I have heard is the valves need to be adjusted every 30k otherwise the engine will be junk.
How many miles did yours have before it died?

I don't recall. If it was over 100k, it wasn't by much.
