Default Scion FR-S Thoughts

Obviously there was a thread before, but this can serve to be specific to the Scion FRS.

My thoughts: There needs to be a premium option. Where's the high-end model with a bigger engine, producing something like 240/210 instead of 200/150?

I'll need to test drive one before passing much judgement. It's a big deal for Toyota though, they haven't really made a sports car (save for the LFA and a couple Lexuses) since the MR2. Even that was more of an econobox than sports car.

Makes Scion actually sell a car that was in the original idea for Scion too. Was intended for a young buyer demographic. It has flopped flat on its face.

No, I wouldn't. I like the concept and wouldn't say no to the Toyota version, after all it's correct wheel drive with the correct gearbox and as few nanny aids as they can get away with and still have it road legal with the few present being fairly easy to disable, but I just don't want a scion badge in my driveway.

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

Then, get the Subaru BRZ? It's same exact car, just with Scooby badges.

We probed the Scion engineers, as it was our intention to elicit a confession about the mechanical differences between the Suburu BRZ and the FR-S. With carefully chosen words, they pointed out the aforementioned equipment premiums in the Subaru (of course, it is expected to be slightly more expensive). In addition, they hinted that the Scion was tuned more for sport, while the Subaru was tuned more for ride compliance.

That's probably what I'd do, actually. I like the car, I just don't like the Scion logos on it.

The only thing that concerns me is the boxer engine under the hood. Im having alot of trouble finding info on it and what kind of potential it has. Ide be willing to trade my tundra in on one if i knew that the motor has the capabilitiy of some serious power...

Because it's a brand new engine. It's a boxer with Toyota's fuel delivery.
