Default Fastest Accelerating Cars

I've been digging around the internet for a few months but I can't see to find a solid list of fastest accelerating production cars.

I keep finding the wikipedia or other pages that list top 10, but I am trying to find a list of cars based on price.

Maybe people can just tell me off the top of their head?

2013 GTR seems to be the fastest for just over $100k. If we set that price as absolute max and go lower from there, what are some 2.8-5 second accelerating production cars for $100k and under out there?

Well it really depends on your definition of "car." The Ariel Atom V8 for instance is 0-60 in like 2.1 seconds or something crazy like that, but its really just a tube frame with a v8 and a seat.

I think sovietdoc was asking about a more usual car. This is a monster, not a car :P

Any muscle car from the late 60s early 70s with a big block and drag slicks will shame anything this side of a Bugatti Veyron to sixty. Juiced/boosted smallblocks are also perfectly capable.

Now, given, they are modified, but I don't know of any brand new off-the-showroom-floor cars that will pull a wheelstand at all, much less any that require a wheelie bar lest they flip over backwards when they launch.

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

The fastest accelerating cars are all going to be modified into race application. AMS has tuned a Lancer Evo to run under 2sec 0-60. Ken Blocks ford fiesta does it in under 2sec aswell. It all comes down to the amount of money you sink into the car. And more importantly, the driver.
