Hello guys,
As we all know, kia and hyundai cars haven't been that of a favorite in the market for the past decades but since they released the kia sorento, picanto, rio or hyundai genesis, accent, tucson, they've been getting pretty good reviews from users and a lot are actually appearing in the streets. My question is, are these up and coming korean cars (kia/hyundai) okay in the long run in terms of parts/ resale value/ service/ etc? Have you owned a kia or hyundai recently in the past years? How is it doing compared to the others? Thanks ![]() |

So far I've watched the KIa, and I'm not impressed. Sure a new one looks great, but the test of a car is how great is after it's 10 years old? My customer's 05 Kia's are not looking very good.
My Hyundai customers cars are looking better, still not really impressed.

Yeah, looks can be deceiving isn't it. 10 years would be a fair gauge, but the Kia's are still running right? Not reasonable damage for a 7 year usage? |

One of my Kia customers, 05 Rio, less than 100K, broken timing belt, bad cam sensor, both rear wheel bearings failed (and very expensive), and a muffler burnt out. The muffler was not available locally through after market, and the dealer, $300, but not in the country, 2 months to get one.
Dealer support is pathetic.

I would certainly attest to the newer hyundai. As in 08+, and of course even newer. They have realy turned things around by upping production quality, and working with other manufacturers for design and components. Biggest being mercedes with the genesis, and mitsubishi for the genesis coupe.

Well being that the powertrains are not made by hyundai in those cars, i would expect the same reliability as a mercedes or mitsubishi, which i last saw was great.
