Default Need a car for my brother

I'm helping my dad out in finding a car for my brother. He's going off to college and has no idea what he wants, and neither does my dad.

We'd like to keep it around $15,000 (from a dealership so we can trade in a minivan and finance the rest).

We're looking at the Ford Fiesta and Chevy Sonic right now. We just need a small economical cheap reliable car for him with a warranty on it (just so he can take it to the dealer and get it fixed, he's not going to do his own work). Stick or auto is fine, I'll just have to teach him to drive it if we get a stick. When I have time I'll go and look at the Fiesta and Sonic, but I just wanted to know if there was anything else I should be looking at in that price range.

Sister has a 1.4T manual Sonic sedan and loves it. Pretty damn well equipped for the price. Get the 1.4 or forget it though - the 1.8 is junk.

She gets about 45 mpg with the manual.

When my car was in the shop, car renal company gave me sonic and i loved it. I had full tank when i got it and it was enough for two weeks (at least 30 miles every day). It's a small and efficient car.
