Default My car may have been keyed, but can I be certain?

I believe my car may have been keyed, but there are some weird features that make me unsure. The car is a 2014 Ford Fiesta. The scratches are all on the driver's side, on the paint directly above the windows. There are scratches from the front portion of the driver's window to near the back of the rear driver's side window. Only one or two scratches are deep enough to have gotten beyond the blue paint and into the white primer. Most just scratched the clear coat. The deeper ones are 4 inches or so long, but most are in the 2 inch range. Most are straight, though there's a little bit of variety. Some are vertical, but most are horizontal. I'm perplexed, because all of the keyings I have seen have been a few very deep gashes, not numerous light, short cuts. Given that all of these are on the driver's side, is there a common problem with stones getting thrown up at the car by passing cars and scratching the paint? The car is less than a month old. If anyone is interested I will post pictures tomorrow when the sun is out.

Stones should not leave scratches, nicks yes, scratches no.

Sounds like somebody did something nasty to your car.

You have insurance on a new car I hope, get it repainted.

Yeah, doesn't sound like stones at all. Have you made anyone mad recently? It sucks, but might as well get a new paint job and hope it doesn't happen again. I don't know why, but in my neighborhood it seems like every time I get a new car there's a few long scratches down the side of it within a month. People are awesome.

Uncle bought a new car (way back in 97-98), some hooligans decided to be funny and rattle can it all over.
