Default Saving for new car, need advice please.

Ok here is kinda what my situation is.
I have a ford escort 97, its costing me a bomb because it breaks down every month or 2, always problems occurring.
I wana save for a new car that wont really break down often.

I can get a couple of grand and buy a real fast car, like 2.0 turbo escort cossy or summit but they will be old cars, like 8-12 years old etc or i could get a newer car like 3-5 years old but the engine will be smaller.

Your thoughts?

Cars can be: cheap, fast, reliable. Pick two. If I were in your situation I would pick up a cheap fast car. I wouldn't go for a Cosworth since they have a huge premium tacked onto their price because of their popularity.-

Well, what are you trying to do? Get to and from work/school or enter a racing club?

In MY situation, I needed a vehicle very soon to get to and from work and college, so i saved up and got myself a 1999 ford explorer. (I could have probably done better if i had saved a bit more)

If you are looking to get to and from work and school, I would suggest getting a small car like a honda civic/older accord or some small toyota car or truck. Buying this type of small car/truck would save you loads on gas.

Not sure I could offer much help with some suped up fast car....never had one before lol

well i looooove to cruze wid loads of my mates lol, fast would be nice :P
Something to save up for for the next year or so until my car breaks down.

Problem is its not just the car that costs when its a fast car , its the insurence thats very high and high power engin eats petrol , so im unsure, really though i want fast and reliable but it will cost a lot, oh well keep dreaming, thanks anyway guys.
