Default Suggestions for lights?

I want to go ahead and upgrade the headlights on the Cobalt(and probably the Honda but one at a time). I really want plug and play bulbs and I am willing to pay a bit more for quality, they also must be legal in Missouri. I do actually have a use, as I work nights, so 50% of my driving is done at night. Suggestions?

Silverstar ultra. You can buy them at AZ for $50 a twin pack. They seem pretty bright to me.

You said you wanted them to be legal. That rules out HIDs.

Are you wanting bright, or something that looks cool and different?

My old boss got pulled over a couple times in his cobalt with silverstar ultras because the cop thought he had his brights on. They really are pretty bright and completely legal. They also came out with some silverstar xenon bulbs that are suppose to be brighter, but I have no experience with those.

Any headlight system not government certified when the car was built is illegal. So, in other words, if your car was not fitted with HID headlights when it was built, regardless of other trim levels potentially having them, fitting them to your car is 100% illegal 100% of the time.

As for whether you're likely to get caught, that would depend. You would be putting them in stock halogen housings, spreading light wrong and blinding everyone, and likely to get in trouble. Proper projector housings aimed correctly would be better for your visiblity and safer for everyone else and probably would not get you pulled over. But projector housings aren't cheap.
