Default Mechanical Flex Fans

I was wondering about the performance of flex fans over clutched fans? Anyone have any experience with that?
I would also like to say that I just got treated butt ugly from procomp aka
speedmasters. They messed up their ebay posting and held me responsible for it. Ordered female got male, stupid simple. Stay away!

A fan like this...

can cause this...

I had one on a Jeep Cherokee and a blade broke and nearly came through the hood. Luckily I wasn't near the engine when it let go.

HP wise they offer very little improvement.

You would be much better off using an electric rad fan and have no moving parts unless the fan is actually needed. More improvement in performance and way less risk.

I also would not recommend most Flex-fans as they move little air and are not up to OEM quality. Like these fans...

This is an OEM fan for an Intrepid/Concord. They move more than almost any after market fan and they don't cost any more.

Flex fans have been known to kill people leaning over hoods when they let go. Never ever.
