Default Ford Edge - super heavy steering wheel!! - is that normal?

I used to drive a mustang and it had a very light steering wheel. You could turn it with one finger. Now I got an Edge and it feels like I'm driving an Oldsmobile. Are they really supposed to be like that, or is there any way to change it?

It's possible the power steering could be out. I would expect even for a larger car it Will still be easy to turn.

Can you describe how hard it is to turn the wheel when the car is dead stopped?
