Default Noise Generated from pressing UNLOCK

I'm a writer. In my latest mystery, one of the things that happens is that the hero presses the UNLOCK button on the key fob for a car. I know that doing so will blink the car lights. But is there a make/model (mid-sized car or less and 2011 or older, hopefully) that also makes a noise when you press the UNLOCK button? What generates the noise? I assume not the horn. Thanks in advance.

It's probably the actuator, you need a new one.

Default Is this right?

So, you are suggesting that when I press the UNLOCK button on the key fob, it sends a signal to an actuator in the car that causes the lights to flash and the doors to unlock. The noise you hear is actually the sound of the doors unlocking and/or the actuator itself?

You know how there is a lock inside the car (on the door usually) that goes up and down? It has to go up or down to actually lock/unlock the car. How do you suppose that lock is moved? There is a motor (actuator) connected to the lock that moves when you press the unlock button. The sound you are hearing is the actuator moving. Even if the car is unlocked, when you press the unlock the actuator will still move.

Your car doesn't unlock by magic. It of course has to have some type of mechanical system that moves the lock into the unlock position.
