Default Most regretful car purchase you ever made?

I just concluded one of these (not the WRX fortunately, still have that)... glad it's over and I'm curious to hear from the community what their worst/most regretful car purchase they ever made was.

Two, both were VW's

I was into VW's big time in the '70s and '80s. Worked at dealerships for many years. Owned many, no regrets. Then I needed the towing power of a V8 so I left VW's for several years.

I bought a 1996 Jetta TD. I went over that car front to back and repaired, replaced or overhauled ANYTHING in question. I bought it for $6,000 and spent another $3,000 on paint and mechanical. Within a week the gremlins started showing up: rattles and clicking under the dash, sunroof started jamming often, the power locks stopped working, the A/C would sometimes work, sometimes not. Then one day on a short road trip a LOUD phhhhssssttt under the dash and the A/C stopped working.

I fixed the locks and unloaded that thing for $10,000 6 months later.

A few years later I got a deal on another 1996 Jetta 2.0 gas, $500 running. Thinking that I couldn't get two bad ones in a row I bought it. Installed 4 tires, fixed the sunroof, injectors and a bunch of other stuff, about $1,000 in total.

In a couple of days it began running poor and the sunroof jammed and I couldn't open or close it. I kept it another week and unloaded that turkey for $1,000

NEVER, NEVER buying another VW.
