Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a new car as I've been stuck with my 06 plate Clio for almost 2 years.

My knowledge of cars is very limited when it comes to modifications but basically what I want to know is if it is possible to take a car from 0-60 8s to 0-60 6.5s-7s~ and if so how easy/expensive?

Looking at cars that are 3-4yrs old it is clear and obvious that the slower cars will be cheaper to buy as well as on the insurance (to start with)

If anyone could answer my question I would be very grateful!

Max

(p.s. This is my first post so please don't be angry if you see these posts all the time, still finding my way around )

Yes, of course it's possible. Without knowing what car you're working with, the answer is "it depends". There's plenty of cards that do that straight out of the factory too. What kind of budget do you have? What needs and wants do you have?

My budget is give or take 5k but I could stretch to 8k at a push.

The main criteria I look for is up to 8 years, up to 55k miles, over 30/40mpg and 0-60 in 0-8s, but if I switch this to 8-12s I can find cars that have done 15k miles and are 2 years old!

I know there are loads of cars that fit into this range but the thought of having a newer car with all the gizmos and better on fuel (to start with) for cheaper and then modding seems more appealing, hence my question.

Or the other option is an older car that fits that criteria (obviously not the age limit) and then spend a bit extra adding better speakers, stereo, etc...
