Normal????

Depends on your definition of sluggish!

If I was used to my Porsche Turbo (I don't have one), I would likely say it's sluggish.

If I was used to my Yugo (don't have one of these either), I might think yours was fast.

I would think if your Jeep had a 4 cylinder and auto trans, it would, in my opinion, be sluggish.

If it's as fast as other similar Jeeps, then you are the only one who can determine if it's sluggish. If it doesn't perform like other similar Jeeps then it IS sluggish.

Does it miss-fire, hesitate, stumble???? These symptoms can be fixed and it will run quicker.

Definition of sluggish---slow moving, lacking energy.

What he's trying to tell you 4cl + auto + 4wd = slow vehicle is it lacking energy compared to other 4 cl auto 4wd jeeps on the road we don't know race one and tell us.

Jeeps aren't know to be the fastest things on the road, but they're not sluggish either. They can really get up and go when they need to.

First of all, have you been doing regular maintenance on the jeep?

Second, I had the same problem. There are quite a few things you can do to perk up your 4.0.

Here are a few tips that work well to wake up your 4.0.

First, Make sure your air filter is clean - That's a no brainer.

Second, it could be due to a dirty throttle body - I took mine off and cleaned it very thoroughly with carb cleaner and a toothbrush.

Third, if your spark plugs are worn out replacing them can make your engine a little happier. Just remember the first plug needs a U-joint type socket to get at it.

Fourth, and the thing that is probably the most debated is seafoam. Many people say that it's like snake oil, but the 4.0's actually do perk up a bit after using it.

I put some in my gas tank, and some in my throttle body. The biggest change for me with the seafoam was that my rpm's rise and fall much faster, my idle isn't as rough anymore, and my jeep seems to start easier.

Here's the thread that changed my mind on the seafoam. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99405

Hope I helped.
