Default Next car...

Hey, im looking for a new car but cant decide what to choose. Currently I have a 2005 (55) 1.4 Ford Fiesta Zetec, its good little car and for the most part suits me down to the ground as its cheap to run, easy to park and has 5 seats to lug friends around when need be. I've had it a year and I know this would easily last me 10 more years, but im rather style concious and am after one of those convertibles with the hard roofs that fold into the boot.
In my eyes there are only 2 contenders:
*Vauhall Astra TwinTop
*VW Eos

I' not a fan of french cars and the Ford Focus CC is just plain ugly (well the rear end)

I've read many reviews on both of these cars, some saying that their taut and sturdy, and others saying they flex and wobble which doesn't really help me - the potential buyer.

The easiest way is to go test drive them both, but what i'd like to know is what their like to live with, as on a test drive you don't do all types of driving. Plus, when is the best time to buy, do convertibles command more money in Summer vs Winter? Also is it best to buy at the end of the year/beginning of the year etc?

Many thanks

I say the Eos. Partly because we don't have Vauxhalls here.

I'd definitely say VW Eos. Especially if you're after style and image as the VW badge has quite a lot more prestige than a Vauxhall badge. The quality of the Volkswagen interior is also a lot better. They do cost a little more, but I do believe it's worth it

Yeah, I theres more to like about the Eos than there is the Vauxhall, the only one down side to the Eos is it is 3,000-4,000 more than an equivilent (ish) Vauxhall, and the insurance is higher But still, a small price to pay for a very nice car. Another downside are the engines, VW do that 1.6 (which is too underpowered for a car like this apparently) or a 2.0, I wish they would do a 1.8 like Vauxhall do because thats a good combination of power and fuel economy, I don't know if you know what fuel prices have been in the UK, but only a few months ago I was paying 119.9p for a litre of fuel! Although, prices have dropped dramatically during these financal crysis months, I dont feel it will last long. Altho VW bought out a 1.4 model, and I did hear that was pretty decent, so maybe thats the way forward - altho that engine came out beginning of 2008 so im going to have to wait a year to two untill I can afford a second hand one, im only 18 unfortunatly
Thanks for your help though, I just needed confirmation that the VW was the way forward!
