Default My Australian Ford

Hey All,

New member, and thought i'd throw a cat amungts the birds.

In Australia we have the FPV range of Fords, which is 'Ford Performance Vehicles' - not sure if America has the same or similar. Basically its the top of the top of the range offered by Ford.

I own a 2006 FPV Typhoon. Its based around the Ford Falcon. It runs the BARRA270T which is an inline 6 with a Garrett GT35/40 turbo strapped to the side, making 270kw @ the fly and 550nm or torque. My personal best qtr mile time is a 13.2 @ 107.9mph - and thats standard with a basic retune of the computer!

The difference over the Falcon, which has several models, from the 'XT' which is the base model, to the XR6/XR6 Turbo/XR8. The XR6 or XR6 Turbo is a 6cyl sports pack, and the XR8 is the V8 model. They are the top sports models that the falcon offers. The difference between a Tpyhoon and an XR6 Turbo is about 30kw @ the fly, along with different body kit, wheels, brakes, almost the whole motor, suspension, interior is totally over hauled etc and comes with many extra features. The paint supplied for the FPV's is also different to the Ford range.

The only mods ive carried out is lowering it, 20x9" wheels, tinted the windows, put a sub in it and my personalised plates - if you dont get it, im a real estate agent, so think (The plates i mean are SELN 2U - not my old 88MSE ones)

Anyways, enjoy the photos, ill be a bit active around the forum too!

There's the odd one around, don't see too many of them though (at least not in Adelaide where I live).

I BELIEVE (may be wrong) that they're not normally available here as such, you can't walk into a Ford dealer and order one, and the Ford Aus site makes no mention of them. However, one of the dealers did have one sitting in the showroom for a while, and I was told that there was one dealer in each state of Australia authorised to take orders and actually sell them. From memory the price was something ridiculous like AUD$120,000.

And yes, its a big pity Ford Aus didn't strike some sort of export deal to get these out of Australia and dealt overseas, the F6 Typhoon is quite simply just a mind blowing car.

Hello there, welcome aboard. Nice car, a little too lowered for my tastes in the back from how that one photo looks but even so that's some impressive performance.

Wow, that's a nice looking ford!

To me it looks like it has the same clean, sleek lines in the back as the 04-06 GTO

I wish car makers would sell cars like these in the US.

Other places around the world get the commodore, falcon, S204, 22B...
